TMSS celebrated International Women’s Day with enthusiasm and strong commitment to women’s empowerment. The organization arranged a discussion meeting and a colorful rally to mark the occasion.
The event took place on Sunday through a joint initiative of the Human Rights and Gender Department of TMSS Operations-2 and the SMART Project under the Health, Education and Microfinance (HEM) Grand Sector. The program aimed to highlight women’s rights, education, and economic empowerment in Bangladesh.

In addition, TMSS officials, invited guests, women entrepreneurs, and development professionals participated in the event. Human rights activist Sahana Afroze Khanam moderated the discussion session.
Importance of Women’s Education and Economic Empowerment
During the discussion, speakers emphasized the importance of women’s education in improving the overall status of women in society. They stated that educated women can confidently participate in social and economic activities and contribute to national development.
Speakers also highlighted that financial independence plays a crucial role in achieving true freedom and dignity for women. Without economic empowerment, women often struggle to secure equal rights and opportunities.
Another major issue discussed during the event was the need to prevent child marriage. The speakers stressed that early marriage not only affects the health and future of young girls but also limits their ability to contribute to society.
Rally to Raise Awareness
After the discussion meeting, participants organized a vibrant rally along the Dhaka–Rangpur Highway in front of the TMSS Foundation Office. The rally aimed to raise public awareness about women’s rights, gender equality, and the importance of empowering women through education and economic participation.
Officials, guests, women entrepreneurs, and staff members joined the rally and demonstrated their commitment to building a society where women can thrive with dignity and equal opportunity.
