Addressing the Post-War Job Crisis Through Skills Development
In a conflict-affected global environment, densely populated developing countries like Bangladesh face significant economic challenges during and after periods of conflict. One of the most pressing issues is rising unemployment, which directly affects economic recovery and social stability.
To mitigate these impacts and strengthen the post-war economy, the Government of Bangladesh has introduced targeted initiatives aimed at reducing unemployment and creating sustainable livelihoods. Under this national effort, NGOs and Microfinance Institutions (MFIs) are actively delivering short-term technical and vocational training programs designed to build practical, market-oriented skills.
TMSS Response to Employment Challenges
Recognizing the urgent need for job creation and employment assurance, TMSS has taken proactive steps to support national efforts in addressing unemployment. TMSS focuses on delivering life-oriented and market-driven training programs that prepare participants for real employment opportunities or entrepreneurship.
After successfully completing these short courses, trainees receive globally recognized certificates, which enhance their employability both locally and internationally.
However, TMSS strongly believes that quality training alone is not enough. Training must lead to employment or business creation. Without employment linkage, trainees cannot fully benefit from skills development initiatives.
Therefore, Job Creation and Job Assurance remain the key milestones for ensuring the success of these training programs.
Strategic Partnerships to Strengthen Skills Training
To improve training quality and expand employment opportunities, TMSS has recently signed several strategic agreements with national and international organizations under the dynamic leadership of Prof. Dr. Hosne-Ara Begum, Founder Executive Director of TMSS. These partnerships focus on enhancing technical skills, ensuring job placement, and supporting entrepreneurship.

1. Partnership with PKSF for Market-Driven Technical Training
TMSS has established a strategic partnership with Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) to deliver market-demand-based technical training programs.
With financial and technical support from international partners, this collaboration focuses on improving training quality and equipping participants with skills that match current labor market needs.
2. Collaboration with ISISC Under the National Skills Authority
Under the supervision of National Skills Development Authority (NSDA), TMSS has signed a training agreement with ISISC.
This collaboration strengthens national capacity for skills development and ensures that training standards align with national competency frameworks.
3. Joint Initiative with Bangladesh Red Crescent Society
TMSS has also partnered with Bangladesh Red Crescent Society to design and implement structured training programs for conflict-affected and injured individuals.
This initiative focuses on rehabilitation, skills development, and sustainable livelihood creation, helping affected individuals reintegrate into economic activities.
Ensuring Sustainable Livelihoods Through Job Creation
TMSS integrates employment linkage into its training programs to ensure real economic outcomes. The organization connects trainees with employers, supports entrepreneurship development, and promotes small business creation.
By focusing on both employment placement and enterprise development, TMSS helps trainees transition from unemployment to sustainable income generation.
These efforts contribute directly to:
- Reducing unemployment
- Supporting post-war economic recovery
- Strengthening local economies
- Promoting inclusive and sustainable development
