ERD, High-Level Delegation Visits TMSS in Bogura

A high-profile delegation from the Economic Relations Division (ERD) of the Ministry of Finance, Government of Bangladesh, led by Mr. A.K.M. Sohel, Acting Secretary and Chief of the United Nations Wing, visited the TMSS Foundation Office in Bogura on 17 October 2025.

The purpose of the visit was to review the ongoing progress and field activities of two key climate resilience projects implemented by TMSS — the Extended Community Climate Change Project–Drought (ECCCP–Drought) and the Extended Community Climate Change Project–Flood (ECCCP–Flood).

During their visit, the delegation conducted on-site inspections of the projects and also visited several TMSS establishments, including the TMSS Institute of Science and ICT Campus and TMSS Medical College & Rafatullah Community Hospital.

The delegation included Dr. Kazi Shahjahan, Joint Secretary of the UN Wing-2, ERD, along with other senior officials from the division.

Earlier, on the evening of Friday, 17 October, TMSS hosted an interactive meeting at the MOMO Inn Hotel and Resort, Bogura, to mark the occasion. Senior TMSS officials presented detailed overviews of the organization’s ongoing initiatives, project progress, achievements, challenges, and strategic plans for the future.

Addressing the session, Mr. A.K.M. Sohel emphasized the importance of effective coordination in implementing development projects and strengthening government–NGO collaboration. He underscored the need to build institutional capacity through targeted training programs to enhance the effectiveness of climate change initiatives.

“To ensure climate-resilient community development, it is essential to enhance the capacity of TMSS officials through continuous training and knowledge sharing. The ERD is committed to extending all necessary support in this regard,” said Mr. Sohel.

During the meeting, Professor Dr. Hosne-Ara Begum, Executive Director of TMSS, Mr. Mohammad Khairul Islam, Executive Consultant, and Rtn. Dr. Md. Matiur Rahman, Head of TMSS Health Sector, along with senior and project officials, shared insights on TMSS’s organizational strategies, limitations, and ongoing efforts toward maintaining ethical standards and environmental compliance.

It was proudly mentioned that TMSS has received the National Environment Award four times, recognizing its dedication to eco-friendly practices and sustainable development. The ERD delegation highly appreciated TMSS’s contributions and expressed willingness to strengthen collaboration in future environment-focused initiatives.

The ERD delegation appreciated TMSS’s contributions toward achieving national climate resilience and reaffirmed the importance of continuous collaboration between government agencies, NGOs, and local communities to ensure long-term impact.
