TMSS Annual General Meeting 2023: A Vision for Progress and Growth

One of the pivotal moments of the meeting was the unanimous approval of the budget for the financial year 2023-24, amounting to Tk 14,834 crore. This financial roadmap sets the stage for the organization’s multifaceted endeavors in the coming year.

The meeting commenced with a warm welcome address by TM Ali Haider, the Managing Director of BCL Group, extending a gracious welcome to all attendees. Prof. Dr. Hosne-Ara Begum, the Member Secretary of Board of Directors and the Founder Executive Director of TMSS, presented the topics discussed on the first day, setting the tone for the discussions that followed.

Under the able leadership of Mrs. Gulnahar Parveen, the Chairman of TMSS Board of Directors, the Annual General Meeting progressed smoothly, with a strong sense of purpose and unity.

Integral to the meeting were presentations by key members: Minti Akhtar Banu shared the comprehensive annual report, while Aisha Begum presented the financial report and budget, both of which received unanimous approval.

In addition to deliberating on the annual report and budget, the assembly paid tribute to the departed life members, officers, and workers of TMSS, underlining the organization’s deep sense of community and shared loss.

Crucial decisions emerged, defining the organization’s roadmap for the upcoming fiscal year. Among these decisions, several notable projects stood out: enhancing the quality of healthcare to meet national and international standards within the TMSS Health Sector, modernizing the Cancer Center and Bone Marrow Transplantation facilities, and initiatives for the advancement of Pundra University.

The meeting also resolved to establish the BCL Flying Academy/BCL Flying Institute to foster skilled pilots and provide comprehensive training. Further emphasis was placed on elevating the skill set of TMSS personnel, offering enhanced facilities to employees, and leveraging cutting-edge technology to its maximum potential.

The predominant focus during the two-day event encompassed vital topics spanning various sectors, domains, and departments, with particular emphasis on the organization’s overarching sector of Health and HEM. On the concluding day, Dr. Paul Mainwaring, an Australian scientist, delivered a presentation on cancer research as part of the overview of services and activities at the TMSS Cancer Center.

During the event, TMSS unveiled the publication of “Mujib Birth Centenary Commemorative-2022” and conferred the Mujib Year Award in honor of Mujib’s centenary. Additionally, customary awards were distributed among officers and employees based on their performance in the preceding year. The program concluded with a cultural presentation by students from TMSS Autism School.

Of significant note, the meeting’s closing day saw the dissolution of the previous board of directors of the organization, followed by the election of a new board of directors.

The gathering drew a distinguished audience, including TMSS general council members, lifetime members of the organization, invited guests, domain and venture heads, senior officials from TMSS and BCL Group, and heads of educational institutions affiliated with TMSS including Pundra University. Additionally, officials from various organizational levels participated virtually, contributing to the collective vision and direction of TMSS.

The AGM 2023 stands as a testament to TMSS’s commitment to progress, innovation, and holistic development, reaffirming its pivotal role in shaping a brighter future for the community and beyond.

During the meeting, appreciation was extended to all individuals, organizations, and well-wishers—such as TMSS’s associate partners, donor organizations, and various government institutions—for their contributions and support throughout the financial year 2022-23.
