PROJECT TITLE : SOCIAL FORESTRY PROGRAMME (Road side Tree Plantation)

From the beginning TMSS is working for the livelihood improvement of the poor and ultra poor women with emphasis on sustainable environment development. To re-in force these TMSS has started social forestry program operation in collaboration with WFP, GOB by active participation of vulnerable women group since 1989 at Bogra, Joypurhat, Gaibandha, Kurigram, Nilphamari and Rangpur Districts.
Goal: The main objective of the project is to increase the overall tree resource of the country to check depletion forest resource to enhance conservation of forest, to reduce green house effect and sustainable management of tree resources through local community participation as well as to increase forest coverage & poverty alleviation.
a) To accomplish fallow forestation of available land, be that along the road side canal banks and Union Parishod’s land using participatory approaches following the benefit sharing mechanism.
b) To uplift the socio economic status of the poor community people by utilizing them in forestation program.
c) To ameliorate overall environmental situation of the countryside and in the project area in particular.
Total Beneficiaries: 7,350
Operational Area: 630 Villages of 30 Upazila of Rajshahi, Bogra, Joypurhat, Natore, Sirajgonj, Gaibandha & Dinajpur District.
