We are thrilled to share the wonderful news that our beloved Founder & Executive Director, Prof. Dr. Hosne-Ara Begum, has been appointed as a member of the National Rural Development Steering Committee by the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh.
This prestigious recognition highlights Dr. Begum’s unwavering dedication and expertise in the field of rural development. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the government, particularly to the honorable Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina, for their continuous support in fostering rural development initiatives across the country.
Dr. Hosne Ara Begum’s visionary leadership has been pivotal in uplifting rural communities, particularly through the establishment of approximately 100,000 village associations via Community Based Organizations (CBOs). Her innovative approaches have garnered attention and acclaim, leading to a five-year fellowship stipend from the Washington-based Ashoka Foundation, focused on sustainability and self-replicability. We express our deepest appreciation to Bill Drayton, CEO & Chair of Ashoka Foundation, for their generous support.
In alignment with the principles of TMSS, the 4th TMSS board meeting of 2024 has unanimously approved Dr. Begum’s inclusion in the National Rural Development Steering Committee. We have full confidence that her pioneering Low Cost & No Cost methodologies will revolutionize the utilization of unused agricultural land and accelerate the development of rural infrastructure in Bangladesh.
