Immediate Assistance of Fish Farmers
TMSS, has implemented a project named “Immediate Assistance to Restore the Livelihoods of Women and Fish Farmers Severely Affected by Cyclone in South Western Bangladesh” in 26 villages of Budhata and Sereula Unions in Assasuni Upazila under Satkhira District under the direct supervision of FAO and by the fund support of Spanish government. The main objective of this project was to implement the delivery of ORSO/BGD/001/SPA activities and supplies in different interventions of the beneficiaries for Livestock (Poultry) and Fisheries (Carp) sector assistance in close collaboration with DLS and DOF.
TMSS project staffs identified and selected 1000 beneficiaries under Fisheries sector for carp cultivation and 400 beneficiaries under Livestock sector for poultry rearing through FGD, 40 Fisheries Group and 16 Livestock Group are formed for project management. The entire selected beneficiaries were endorsed by the Upazila Govt. Fisheries and Livestock officers.
By the cooperation of DOF and DLS necessary capacity and skill development trainings have been provided to the 1400 selected project beneficiaries. This training program was followed by inputs distribution. A total of 7500 chickens have been distributed among 400 beneficiaries and a total of 8,00,000 pcs. Carp fingerling has been distributed among 1000 beneficiaries. This distribution programmes were witnessed by the local level Govt. officers, Local Elected Bodies and Community people. TMSS project staffs maintained the expected standard of quality in achieving the expected result through conducting regular participatory monitoring of project activities and holding periodical stakeholder coordination meetings. Besides these schedule reports were prepared and submitted to the relevant project authorities and necessary documentations have been prepared in accordance to the project demand. This project has been proved beneficial for the poor people of the cyclone affected areas.
